"Veterans Savings Program" postcard scam

Last updated

Also known as: Veterans Savings Program mailer, Fake VA extra benefits postcard, CHAMPVA / TRICARE For Life postcard scam

The Scam

According to the FTC, veterans across the country have reported postcards saying they or their spouse might qualify for extra monthly benefits through a "Veterans Savings Program." That program doesn't exist. The postcard may list your state and mention real VA benefits like CHAMPVA or TRICARE For Life to seem real, and it tells you to call right away or risk missing out. The goal is to get your Social Security number or bank account details over the phone.

The Targets

Veterans and their spouses.
